Our Probate team will deal efficiently and sensitively with the administration of an estate to include dealing with estates where there is no Will (intestacy), tax issues and Deeds of Variation.

A Deed of Variation could be executed within 2 years of the date of death if all of the beneficiaries are in agreement. The reasons for doing this may be to save tax, or, if circumstances have changed, to make more sensible provision for family members.

It would be very helpful if you could complete as much of the Probate Checklist as you can before your first appointment and bring with you as many of the documents it lists as you have in your possession.

Our Costs:

We charge an hourly rate save where the value of the estate exceeds £500,000. In this case we charge 1/2% of the value of the estate. Our hourly rate is £190 + VAT.

We will also incur external costs suchas:

 Probate Court Fee                                           £45

 Sealed Copies of the Grant                           £1 each

 Commissioners Fees (intestacy)                £5 each

 Commissioners Fees                                   £7 each (plus £2 per Codicil)

A full estimate of costs will be provided before any work is undertaken.

We would recommend that at this time you review your own personal affairs and consider making or updating your Will and making a Lasting Power of Attorney.
