Lasting Power of Attorney
Lasting Powers of Attorney ensure your choices of medical treatment and who controls your financial and legal affairs are carried out should you lack capacity to make such decisions yourself. You may lack capacity because you are ill, unconscious or because of the onset of a condition such as dementia. This might also mean you have difficulty making decisions all of the time or that it might take you a long time to make a decision.
The benefits of having a Lasting Power of Attorney include being able to decide in advance what you do and do not want to happen to your affairs and who you want to deal with your affairs in the event that you are unable to do so.
Please see our FAQ's for a more detailed explanation of the reasons for and benefits of doing a Lasting Power of Attorney.
