£3.5 million pound commercial deal

John Thelwall and the commercial team of Park Woodfine Heald Mellows LLP have signed off the deal between Spice PLC and Homerton Heating Limited.

Simon Rigby, Chief Executive Officer of Spice said of the deal "Homerton complements Spice's other recent gas acquisitions and enhances the strength of our Public Services Division within the UK market. Spice remains committed to its strategy of achieving national coverage in the UK market, using established regional businesses and brands.

Since the formation of our Public Services Division, we have been able to grow the existing businesses significantly, through being part of a larger quoted group which provides access to larger clients. Across the Public Service division we now have access to nearly 315 CORGI registered gas engineers which provides us with an excellent platform to provide our clients with a responsive and effective service."

Homerton Heating Limited was established in 1996 and is wholly owned by its directors and their families.  One of the two current directors of the business, Tony Ward, will remain with the business following the acquisition. Homerton employs 22 people, including 12 CORGI registered gas engineers.

Tony Ward, Managing Director of Homerton, said:

"We were delighted with the performance of the team of Park Woodfine Heald Mellows LLP.  They guided us through the legal process with clear and positive advice, delivering completion on time and within budget.  The continual attention to detail and progressive working manner produced a clean transaction which all members of staff will benefit from in the future."

John Thelwall Partner at Park Woodfine Heald Mellows LLP said

"This was a complex deal, which we were very pleased to be associated with. We were able to add benefit to the deal for our clients, enhance the prospects for the company's staff and help secure the growth and continued success of the company with Spice PLC."
